The Stanhope Silver Band will be performing at St Andrew’s Church in South Church.
The weekend of 27th-29th November sees two well known musical groups, Stanhope Silver Band and the Andreas Ensemble of Bishop Auckland, perform to celebrate the Feast Day of St. Andrew.
The events have been organised in order to raise money for repairs to be carried out to the roof of St. Anne’s Church in Bishop Auckland’s Market Place, after over 150 years of wear and tear.
Stanhope Silver Band will play a varied and entertaining programme of music for brass in St. Andrew’s at South Church on Friday evening, November 27th, at 7.30pm, filling the 13th century church with sound.
On Sunday afternoon, November 29th, the 1st Sunday in Advent, at 3.00pm in St. Anne’s Church, The Andreas Ensemble will present a selection of music for the Advent season, including hymns for all to join in singing, festive Advent anthems, and, in contrast, delightful pieces for flutes and harpsichord; very much in the spirit of Advent.
Tickets cost £7.50, including refreshments and a glass of wine in the interval.
Andreas Ensemble Tickets cost £3. Both concerts, if purchased together, cost £10 Tickets are available at the door or from Alan Barrasford at 31 Yorkshire Place, Henknowle, Bishop Auckland, DL14 6UY.
