St Mary’s

St. Mary’s Under 7’s had a great weekend with 2 fantastic wins against Trimdon United. They earned a fabulous 7-1 encounter with goals from Jack Wood (3), Jack Purdham (3), Oliver Johnson and J J Readman. Their second game provided another terriffic win. J J Readman and Sam Reed scored hat-tricks, Oliver Johnson, Johnboy Harrop, Will Barnham and Leon Dixon all scored a goal apiece to make the score an emphatic 10-0 victory.

The Under 10’s got back to winning ways against Billingham Rangers. A super goal from Bailey Prudhoe opened the scoring. Josh Oyston scored the 2nd with a trademark header from a corner kick. Ben Thompson sealed the win with a great strike. Final score 3-0 to St Mary’s. The friendly resulted in a goal-fest with St Mary’s winning 10-0. Man of the Match went to ‘keeper Harry Robinson.

The U11B’s had an excellent victory in a tight game, which could have gone either way, against a very good St. Francis side. In the first half both teams struggling to get the ball down and play. However, the visitors managed to carve out a couple of opportunities, only hit the woodwork on both occasions. The pressure paid off for St. Mary’s after 20 minutes, Man of the Match Carl Draper was put through with only the ‘keeper to beat, the St. Francis goalkeeper parried Carl’s initial shot, but was unable get anywhere near the rebound. St. Mary’s lead was sort lived, as the home side scored a good goal on the break to make it 1-1 at half time. In the second half both sides battled well. Ultimately, it was St. Mary’s who grabbed all 3 points. A low, hard strike from Gareth McMahon ricocheted through a crowd of players and ended up in the back of the net.

St. Marys under 8B team drew 1-1 with Middleton Rangers. Lewis Poppleton gave them the lead, only for St Mary’s to be undone by a late own goal.
