Bishop Auckland College Sports Level 2 student, Rachelle Colley 16, from Chilton has been given the opportunity to try out for Durham Cricket Board (DCB) under 17 female squad.

Rachelle was spotted by Darren Brown, Cricket Development Officer for DCB when he came into the College to coach sports students. Darren said, “I spotted Rachelle straight away during practice sessions, she has great eye-hand coordination which is a vital skill in becoming a good cricketer.

Rachelle’s ambition is to become a football coach (which is her passion at the moment) but who knows, if she does well cricket may be her future.

College Sports Lecturer, Wayne Collins, said, “We have introduced our students to a variety of sports this academic year in an attempt to capture their interest and imagination including cricket, basketball and netball and have other sporting activities planned. By offering a diverse range of activities it has become possible to identify talented students just like Rachelle.”
