With Lanchester starting stronger, Bishop were on the back foot and having to defend. Lanchester’s pressure was eventually rewarded when they scored their opening try, which was converted.

Lanchester extended their lead to 14-0 early in the second half. Bishops’ were back in the game when from a lineout won by Knight, the forwards set up a ruck. Clarey picked up the ball and set off on a powerful run to the line and scored his team’s opening try. Griffiths converted the extra points.

With Bishop pushing forward, Sam Bolton made a strong, elusive run through the home defence to score an excellent solo try. Griffiths levelled the match 14-14 with the conversion for a well deserved draw.
