A former St John’s Catholic School pupil is ecstatic after reaching the final 17 contestents of Miss Durham 2010.
Zara Sowerby, who has lived in nearby Shildon all of her life, was also a finalist in last year’s contest.
Speaking of her experience, she said, “Afer getting through to the final of the 2009 contest and being unsuccessful, my determination kicked in and I entered again in hope of taking home the crown.
“It would be amazing to represent the beautiful Durham City at this year’s Miss England finals.”
Working for Durham County Council as an Administration Officer and working part-time at Shildon’s Sunnydale Leisure Centre, Zara has had plenty of opportunity to promote the area. She is also studying towards a BA (Hons) Leadership and Management Degree at Northumbria University.
The contest, which is to take place at Sedgefield Racecourse on Saturday, May 8th, consists of three rounds, including Ladies Day at the Races, Fancy Dress & Beach Wear, as well as a question and answer round.
To help 21 year-old Zara win the contest and represent Durham in the Miss England finals, text Zara Sowerby to 84205 or call 0901 6561573 and enter 15 when prompted.
All votes cost 60p plus standard network charges and lines close at 5.30pm on Saturday, May 1st.
