The Mayor of Bishop Auckland, Councillor Lesley Zair hosted her first Mayoral Charity event on Sunday, 4th July.

The “Mayor at Home” afternoon tea event was held in Bishop Auckland Town Hall at which over 60 guests inclusive of Mayors and Chairmen of neighbouring districts attended.

Councillor Zair has planned a year of fundraising events in aid of her chosen charity, the Butterwick Hospice at Bishop Auckland.

The afternoon raised in excess of £400 and Councillor Zair was delighted at the support from both her guests and local craft and retail stalls from Bishop Auckland businesses, which included Beverly’s
Fashions and Chittocks. More events are planned throughout the year, details of which can be obtained from the Town Clerk at batc@btconnect.com or telephone: 01388 609852.
