Following recent extensive refurbishments of their premises at Fylands House, Tindale Crescent, The Cooperative Funeralcare held a re-dedication service of their private Rooms of Remembrance on Tuesday 22nd June.
The service was opened by Divisional Manager Phil Hoggarth who welcomed the Mayor of Bishop Auckland, Lesley Zair, ministers from local churches and representatives from The Butterwick Hospice and
Bishop Auckland General Hospital amongst others, and thanked everyone for attending.
He then introduced Regional Sector Manager Kevin McAlister, who began the formal ceremony by petitioning the ministers to dedicate the rooms of remembrance in God’s name.
The Reverend Canon Neville Vine said the opening prayer followed by a reading from Revelations by funeral director Christine Dowson. Father Jonathan Rose then read the Sentence of Dedication. All the
guests and staff then said The Lord’s Prayer and a prayer in remembrance of the departed and the bereaved was said by the Reverend Keith Phipps.
Finally, all the ministers joined together to give a blessing.
