Cricket starts in the making

Two Bishop Barrington Sports with Mathematics School pupils have just been re-selected to play for Durham Cricket Club’s under 12 team.

Year 7 students Daniel Legge and Jamie Dass played for the Under 11s team last year and travelled all over the country to represent their county.

Dan also plays for Bishop Auckland Cricket Club while Jamie is a member of Willington Cricket Club. The boys train regularly at the Emirates International cricket ground and every year they have to undergo
a multi-stage trial to reach selection status.

Phil Mellons, the under 12’s County Coach said that their selection was a result of, “Commitment and determination during the selection and training programme over the winter months.”

Head teacher Jackie Gent said, “These boys are very keen to excel in their sport and our school will foster and encourage them to the utmost.

Daniel and Jamie give us real cause for celebration as these youngsters are close to the top of cricketing talent.”
