Young Cricketers receive funding boost

Young Bishop Auckland cricketers, coached by Andy Walker, were delighted to receive a cheque for £182.50 from County Councillor Sam Zair’s Members’ Initiative Fund recently to help them practice the sport.

The group meets on Tuesday evenings at King James School between 6pm and 7pm.

Cllr Zair said: “It is wondersful to see girls as well as boys taking up the sport of cricket.

“I thoroughly enjoyed the evening and was well entertained.

“Who knows, one day we may see one or more of these entusiastic young cricketers donning the whites for England!”
